Get your tickets to Growing Hope‘s Chefs in the Garden dinner on October 13! Held on the grounds of their sprawling urban farm, attendees will enjoy a multi-course meal under the hoophouse. This year, area chefs Ji Hye of Miss Kim and Brandon Johns of Grange Kitchen & Bar sponsored the events*. Much of the menus highlights locally grown produce, some of it even coming from the Growing Hope farm.
At the first evening of the series, Chef Ji Hye of Miss Kim Ann Arbor prepared a delicious locally sourced meal for attendees. The several courses included a miso-butter squash followed by spicy kimchi salad, leading up to Chili glazed ribs. For dessert, Rachel Liu Martindale of Milk & Honey prepared a delicious black sesame cake topped with edible flowers and an array of perfect macarons.
More than just a delicious dinner, this series acts as a major fundraiser for Growing Hope. The non-profit operates school garden programs, teen mentorship programs, organizes the farmers market in Ypsilanti, has a marketplace space and an incubator kitchen. Growing Hope’s mission is to foster an equitable and sustainable local food system that empowers all to buy, sell, prepare, and eat nourishing food.
Make a difference in your community and break bread at the beautiful space that is Growing Hope.

If you can’t make the event, but you are in a position to donate financially, Growing Hope could use your help. Following their first Chefs in the Garden Dinner, their on-site kitchen and office suffered a terrible fire. Please consider donating here: growinghope.net/donate/
*In addition, Chef Carlito Hurtado of Cultivate Coffee & Tap House was set to cook the meal for Sept. 29. Unfortunately, this event was cancelled due to the fire damage.
