Cultivating Resilient Community

Over 14% of the population is food insecure in the 11 SE Michigan counties TLD serves. In the heart of Ypsilanti’s historic Depot Town District, a unique coffee and tap house is helping to change that.

Cultivate Coffee and Tap House opened their doors in 2015 with the mission to end hunger (locally and globally) by 2030 and do good in their community and the world. To accomplish this mission, the non-profit focuses on the core values of Craft, Community, Cause.

  • Craft: Cultivate prides themselves in sourcing and serving the best coffee and microbrews. Their coffee recipes are fine-tuned and perfected and their beer selection is some of the most unique in the state. The bar manager’s mission is to be the best beer bar in the state and it shows in the care taken with each keg (lines are cleaned between EVERY blown keg)! and the quality of the beers on tap.

  • Community: Cultivate is a place to connect and belong. From live music in the beer garden, knitting nights, and yoga to postcard writing parties, meet-ups and adult coloring, there is a chance to make new friends, and connect with old ones, every day of the week.

Upcoming Events:

•Sundays in the Garden (all summer)

•Summer Solstice in the Garden: TLD Magazine Release Party (June 21st 6-10 PM)

  • Cause: Cultivate supports organizations that do not discriminate based on any particular affiliation. All revenue from sales and tips at Cultivate are invested back into groups working to end hunger in the greater Ypsilanti area and around the globe. Currently, Cultivate Coffee and Tap House partners with the following organizations: Food Gatherers (Ann Arbor), Growing Hope (Ypsilanti), Ypsilanti Meals On Wheels (Ypsilanti), Food 4 Farmers (Global).
