Detroit Foodie Fair to be a Certified Local Food Event

It’s Sunday morning and the Eastern Market, one of the nation’s oldest urban markets is teeming with visitors. Shoppers pack the market sheds and weave in and out of market stalls sipping coffee, trying on unique jewelry, and perusing locally made art. Detroit area food artisans sample their products and the air is filled with delicious scents wafting from several food trucks. On September 22, The Detroit Foodie Fair will be adding to the fun!

When most people think of Detroit’s Eastern Market, images of the iconic Saturday produce market likely come to come. However, one day later each week, the market hosts its Sunday Street Market. In contrast to Saturday, the Sunday Market features clothing, art, jewelry, prepared food, coffee, music and more, all from Michigan companies. It is a great opportunity to think outside the big box (store) for unique gifts and everyday items.

On Sunday, September 22, the Sunday Market becomes even more robust with the addition of the Detroit Foodie Fair. From 10 AM – 4 PM in Eastern Market Shed 5, you’ll be able to find unique kitchen items, artisanal food products, tasty treats and refreshing beverages. And if you get hungry, you’re in luck! This event is a Certified Local Food Event, so all the meals served will contain at least 20% locally sourced ingredients.

Save September 22 in your calendar and be sure to grab a few friends, your family, and your neighbor to explore the Detroit Foodie Fair and discover your next food obsession. Plus, attendees will be able to cast their vote for Detroit’s Best Foodie Find!
