Elixirs: Wellness Cafe Opens in Marquette

Elixirs had been planned before the pandemic,” Kate Lewandowski, co-owner of Elixirs shares. They intended to open during the beginning of the summer of 2020, but eventually opened in October, only to shut down again that following spring. After a tumultuous start for the business, they are excited to announce they are open and ready to serve organic juices, soups, and smoothies to the Marquette community and visiting Michiganders.

Elixirs is an extension of BeWell MQT, a wellness and yoga studio located in the heart of the city on Third Street, just a few blocks from Blackrocks Brewery and the Bodega. BeWell offers wellness classes including group classes including meditation, dance, Tai Chi, yoga, self-massage, and Sound Bath experiences, as well as housing a long list of  specialists in massage, breathwork, nutrition, herbalism, physical therapy, yoga, and salt therapy.

Co-owners Lewandowski and Christopher Ray yearned to minimize suffering and give people options and inspiration to feel good physically and mentally. One way to fulfill that promise to their clients was through food and drink, hence Elixirs. The smoothie shop, right next door to their studio space, offers a walk up window for easy to-go ordering. Inside, you’ll be able to choose from a variety of organic juices, smoothies, soups, vegan rolls and other convenience snacks.

Not only are they Marquette’s only 100% organic smoothie and juice shop, they also do what they can to source locally when possible. Elixirs strives to support regenerative agriculture and small local farms. They currently work with Ever Yielding Acres for maple syrup, Cloverland Farm for honey,Seeds and Spores Family Farm for vegetables and tinctures, Guindon Farms for beef, and Mushroom Joe for tinctures. Apples and additional produce come from their own homestead, Turtle Haven.

While you enjoy a herbal seltzer or peruse the assortment of organic snacks, you can know that you are also making a good choice for your body and supporting a business with a dedication towards reducing the stress on the environment.

Elixirs is located at 603 North Third Street, across from Contrast Coffee and is open Tuesday – Saturday from 9am – 5pm and 10am-2pm on Sundays and Mondays. You can follow them on Facebook and Instagram as well as order ahead online for even more convenience.
