The Story of Jetta’s
Behind every bag of artfully seasoned classic butterfly popcorn is a born and raised Detroiter, Magita Barbee aka Jetta. As a self proclaimed fun food lover, Magita has supplied Southeast Michigan with tasty treats for decades. Jetta’s is the result of years of listening to customers, collaborating with family, an ever-growing passion to serve others, prayer, and faith in God.
When she’s not mixing bags of local favorites like her Eastside and Westside Mixes at Brightmoor Artisans Collective. Magita teaches computer technology, business, and entrepreneurship in Detroit Public Schools at her Alma Mater, Denby High School where she developed a love for retail and marketing as a co-op student and DECA member. Today, she encourages and teaches students how to discover and pursue their passions.
Our Food Truck
Breezin’, Magita’s first business started in 1997 as a seasonal ice cream truck, officially retired in 2011. Despite receiving enthusiastic offers over the years, she never seriously considered selling it. She decided to open an inline fun food retail shop inside Eastland Mall, this however was short-lived but not forgotten. She shifted her focus to solely crafting gourmet popcorn for retail and concessions. And now, over twenty years later, it's apparent that a setback is only a setup for a comeback! The truck is now Jetta’s Gourmet Popcorn & Fun Foods. It has a refreshed look and is stocked with concession favorites like nachos, pretzels, novelty ice-cream favorites, chili dogs and most importantly, her renowned gourmet popcorn.
