Located just minutes from Bay Harbor, Rudbeckia Farm, Winery and Brewery is situated on the 190 acre former Foltz Dairy farm. Our focus is on providing a memorable “Up North” experience for the entire family.
Rudbeckia Winery and Burnt Marshmallow Brewing are co-located in our shared tasting/tap room. Wine and beer purchased onsite can be taken out onto the property so guests can explore over 150 acres of the farm open to the public during operating hours, take a hike to the top of the hill to see breathtaking views of Walloon Lake and Lake Michigan, compete in a game of Bocce on our regulation court, enjoy a game of corn hole, ring toss or fly a kite in our acres of open fields.
Complimentary marshmallows, popsicles, fruit snacks and frozen grapes are available for kids along with Rudbeckia Farm coloring pages and crayons. Cards and board games are available for guest to enjoy and linger over a glass of wine or beer. Dog treats and water bowls are set out for visiting pups.
We are opened year-round. In the Fall and Winter guest can stay warm and make S'mores at our fire pit and gaze at the seasonal constellations and the Milky Way and the thousands of bright stars in the sky. Maybe you will lucky enough to see the Northern Lights? We allow sledding, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, photography and stargazing on the property during regular hours and off hours by appointment.
Our tasting room staff has over 25 years of international knowledge and experience in wine and beer including certifications from the French Wine Society and San Francisco Wine School. We offer a unique wine tasting experience that is fun and educational. We pour fresh wine everyday either by newly opened bottles or by using the Coravin preservation system that allows us to pour wine through the cork without ever opening the bottle. We standardize on Riedel Crystal tasting glassware for both wine and beer. These glasses are designed to enhance the aromatics of the beer and wine thereby maximizing the flavors. We offer generous pours to ensure you have enough wine, cider or beer in the glass to “see, swirl, sniff and savor”.
Rudbeckia Farms is responsible for everything that is grown on the property – 3400 grapevines in the vineyard, 10 acres of sunflowers in the field, 5 acres of pumpkins, 10 acres of wheat for our brews plus 140 acres of Hay and Alfalfa. Next year we will plant hops, potatoes and heirloom grains to support the brewery and the Distillery that is scheduled to open in mid-2017.
