Enjoy Certified Local Wine Dinners at Chateau Chantal this Fall

Chateau Chantal Winery & Inn is situated high on a ridge overlooking the rolling vineyards and cherry orchards of Old Mission Peninsula, a perfect backdrop to experience Fall in Northern Michigan.  Enjoy the sweeping views of East and West Grand Traverse Bay while enjoying local food and the perfect wine pairing that awaits you. With a 25-year legacy of food and wine education through cooking classes, pairing seminars, wine dinners and gourmet breakfast preparation, Chateau Chantal will impress with an elevating wine experience and a relaxed atmosphere.

Chardonnay smelling smilingThe Wine Pairing Dinner begins with a tour of the wine cellar and winemaking operations.  Sip on a glass of sparkling wine or cider while exploring where the action takes place! From stainless steel tanks, oak barrels, scientific instruments, a bottling line and aging bottles of wine, you’ll have the opportunity to discuss all the grape growing and harvest practices alongside their fun, jovial wine educators.

Then, surrounded by dark wood floors, a fireplace and elegant lighting, you will feel right at home and enjoy making new friends over a communal dinner in the Hospitality Room. Chef Mark Dunham formats the 7-course pairing meal to include an appetizer, soup, fish course, intermezzo, main course, salad, and dessert.  Chef Mark, a Michigan native, graduated with High Honors from the Great Lakes Culinary Institute at Northwestern Michigan College in 2016 with an Associates in Applied Science, majoring in Culinary Arts. He brings a love for local food sourcing and has created a menu focusing on Old Mission Peninsula and local area produce. Each week Chef Mark incorporates at least 54% local ingredients, picking up weekly at the Sara Hardy Downtown Farmers Market and showcasing some of his favorite farms and producers: Lakeview Hill Farm, Loma Farm, Leelanau Cheese, GT Mushrooms, Bay Bread and Nicholas Farm & Vineyards.

The menu is carefully designed by the Chef while working alongside the winemaker to choose the best pairings.  You can expect food that will elevate the wine, letting the wine’s bright fruit flavors drive the match! This end result can often be a new experience for guests and you might find that you like a certain type of wine that without food, doesn’t suit their taste, but when paired correctly brings a whole new appreciation. The wine educator and Chef Mark discuss the local sources, preparation and wine pairings throughout the meal to provide to the guests with an informative regional experience.  Special discounts are offered to guests to take home selections fromdinner salad edit the meal, or any other wine made by Chateau Chantal.
