You’re invited to the 30th anniversary of Grillin’ for Food Gatherers, a community picnic that features Washtenaw County’s finest food, while gathering funds to fight hunger where we live.

Grillin’ is a picnic with a purpose. While you enjoy delicious food, live music, activities for the whole family, and an extensive silent auction, you’ll feel good knowing that the purchase of your ticket provided 150 meals to hungry people in your community.

When: Sunday, June 9, 3 p.m. – 8 p.m., rain or shine.

Where: Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Road, Ann Arbor

1 in 7 people in Washtenaw County struggle with food insecurity, meaning they don’t have enough good food to eat on a regular basis. Proceeds from Grillin’ go to help Food Gatherers distribute 14,500 meals a day to hungry adults, seniors, and children, including fresh produce and healthy proteins.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic feast this year. Grilled gourmet sausages and corn, vegetarian fare, and fan-favorite paella by SavCo Hospitality will accompany side dishes and desserts from our area’s best restaurants and food retailers. Expect a kraut station from The Brinery, gourmet pizza served by Silvio’s Organic Ristorante e Pizzeria, Blueberry Buckle from Zingerman’s Bakehouse, beer from Salt Springs Brewery, and myriad other donations from more than 30 local food and beverage businesses.

Accompanying the feast will be a variety of musicians playing rock, blues, folk, ska, and more. Our musical masters include George Bedard and the Kingpins, Hullabaloo, Amy Petty, and Abigail Stauffer. In between eating delicious food, listening to great music, and learning about food insecurity, guests can bid on the silent auction, with items ranging from tickets to see the Tigers play the White Sox to a 13-week CSA farm share from Tantré Farm.

Grillin’ supports Food Gatherers mission of fighting hunger where we live. You can buy tickets at www.foodgatherers.org/grillin. Adult tickets are $75 in advance, and $85 at the door. Kid tickets are $10, and kids under 3 get in free. We’ll see you there!
