The rising demand for local food has presented new opportunities and challenges for an industry that has largely been export-based for the past 50 years. So when local producers in the region determined that better access to expertise, training, business development and capitalization would help them meet this growing demand, TLD listened.
The TLD Farm to Resource Directory aims to connect producers with resources in seven different categories: Business, Funding, Production, Post-Harvest, Marketing, Education & Networking and Food Safety. The Directory is hosted at the TLD website www.localdifference.org, to provide an additional perk to Producers participating in the Taste the Local Difference program.
Resources will also benefit from this new tool. For example, there is no cost for a listing in the guide. In addition, hundreds of local food producers will be directed to the site through both traditional marketing and social media. And while the guide was created with our TLD participating producers in mind, everyone will be able to access this public guide to local and national resources.
