Since 2008, DBCFSN has operated D-Town Farm, the largest of Detroit's many gardens and farms. The farm occupies slightly more than seven acres inside the Meyers Tree Nursery in the City of Detroit's Rouge Park. D-Town Farm is maintained by a small staff and volunteers who grow more than 30 different fruits, vegetables and herbs each year using sustainable, regenerative methods.
At D-Town Farm, we use three hoop houses for extending the growing season, do large scale composting, rainwater retention, solar energy generation and bee-keeping. The farm maintains a children's area with a small playscape and a clay pizza oven. Each month between May - September the farm sponsors public events for children and families. Community building is an important part of the farm's mission.
