Detroit Food Academy (DFA) is a nonprofit, after-school program at Detroit high schools and community centers that works to inspire young Detroiters (ages 10-24) through culinary arts and food entrepreneurship. Alumni earn a competitive wage producing and selling their own line of food products through Small Batch Detroit - DFA's social enterprise. Small Batch produces three products - Mitten Bite granola bars, Slow Jams jam, and Detroit Pop Shop popsicles - that all feature Michigan fruits, sugar and/or honey.
