Are you ready to experience a culinary adventure like no other and enjoy fresh produce created in the backyard of northern Michigan? TC Community Garden is hosting a series of local dinners this Summer that will give you the opportunity to enjoy a communal dinner with friends in a community garden, enjoy produce that is grown by community members, and take a garden tour!
Garden 2 Table Dinner Series is a Certified Local Food Event and a new fundraiser to benefit the garden. The series of dinners will include a four-course meal and beverage pairing that highlights the produce grown on site at TC Community Garden at Historic Barns Park, “a perfect backdrop for an intimate gathering with an eclectic community garden flair”, says Kimberly Conaghan, Executive Director at TC Community Garden.
Garden members have been working hard to plant a variety of different herbs and vegetables to prepare for the event. Sugar 2 Salt owners, Jonathan Dayton and Stephanie Lee Wiitalla are prepared to create beautiful, local dishes with fresh produce that members will harvest just the day before, and accent it with local, artisan, and craft products courtesy of Oryana Community Co-op! Everything will be hyper-local and within 100 miles of the garden.
The dinner will be held on 3 different dates, allowing you to choose the dinner you’d like to attend based on your seasonal preference:
June 21st will highlight early season vegetables: microgreens, radishes, beets, strawberries, and perennial herb like thyme and rosemary.
August 23rd will feature summer’s bounty of tomatoes, cucumbers, baby potatoes, kale, chard, and annual herbs like parsley, cilantro, and basil.
October 18th will feature the fall’s harvest with: squash, pumpkin, apples, onions, potatoes, and more.
In addition, you’ll get to experience certain non-traditional ingredients and a variety of plants that you may not have tried before!
