Village at GT Commons Farmers Market Prepares to go Indoors

Nestled in the heart of the Grand Traverse Commons is The Village at Grand Traverse Commons Farmers Market. The Outdoor Market runs every Monday from 12pm-4pm in the warmer months on the Piazza beginning the fourth week in May through the second week in October. The Indoor Market begins the first Saturday in November from 10am-2pm and runs through April.

In the summer, one would find a small but dedicated group of farmers and vendors selling the best our region has to offer from fruit and vegetables to honey and baked goods. Visitors are able to enjoy the market in a friendly outdoor setting close to walking paths and trails to enjoy before or after visiting the market. With plenty of eateries and even some wineries, patrons can enjoy a glass of wine while taking in all that the market and The Village has to offer. Or even strike up a game of bocce ball on the adjacent bocce courts.

Every Monday in the warmer months on the hour, a visitor can enjoy a free cooking class offered by Laura McCain, a Munson dietician, featuring a variety of fresh produce which can be found for sale that day by the local farmers. Following class, guests get to enjoy a taste of the class and take home a new recipe to try on their own!

In the cooler months, on Saturdays from 10am-2pm, the indoor market grows and spans the length of the Mercato Corridor where farmers are intermixed between boutique shops, wineries and eateries. The sense of community is strong and the friendly faces and delectable offerings are plentiful. So come join us as we close out the summer market with the crisp autumn setting or begin the winter market in the cozy halls of the Mercato at The Village. This may just become your new weekly tradition!
